Celebrate the Labor Day Weekend at Pelican Beach with
the Mattie Kelly Arts Foundation for a Sunday evening
performance of The Return, the world's most authentic
show band paying tribute to the legendary Beatles. This
performance will feature the early cover songs from 1964
to 1967, Sgt. Pepper's and beyond. This "Farewell to
Summer Concert" will be held on The Village Green of the
Mattie Kelly Cultural Arts Village located at 4323
Commons Drive West, located behind the Destin YMCA and
Grace Lutheran Church. Concert parking at Grace Lutheran

The captivating and exciting spirit that
came to be known as "Beatlemania" is live in The Return.
These four lads have skillfully recreated the Beatles
experience by not only performing all the great songs of
the original four, but also by sporting the same suits,
boots, moptops and stage gear. The Return was chosen as
the official tribute group for Liverpool Productions'
20th Anniversary "Magical History Tour" to London and
Liverpool, England. One of the main highlights of the
tour was performing at the world famous Cavern Club in
Liverpool and an exclusive recording session at Abbey

Beatles recorded the majority of their albums.

The Beach Continues To
"Grow" at Pelican Beach

Beaches rarely stay "the same". Storms, tides, etc. can
change the shape of a beach. Over the course of a few
years, there may be erosion and a beach will gradually
decrease in size. Other years, natural replenishment
occurs and the beach grows in size and depth.
Guests and staff at Pelican Beach have noticed over the
past year a steady increase in the size of the beach. We
have reviewed recent images and the contour of the beach
and have found in the range of 80 to 100 feet of sand
have been deposited over the past year or so.
We're not scientists or surveyors and our numbers are
in-exact ... but we are encouraged the trend will
continue!

Snowbirds Flock To The Resorts of Pelican Beach! (1/31/11)
The Resorts of Pelican Beach, one of central Destin’s
premier resort properties, has announced that the annual
'Snowbird' season is in full swing with many winter
rental guests in house again this year. Each year,
retirees and vacationers, affectionately known as
'Snowbirds' migrate from the northern United States and
Canada to spend up to three months in one of the
resort’s fully furnished and professionally managed
beachfront, beach view or gulf view condominiums.
Winter monthly rentals are available beginning November
1through the end of March and have become very popular
for retirees wishing to avoid the cold winter weather in
places like Ohio, Michigan, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, and
Canada. Many "snowbirds" call the Emerald Coast home
for one to three months every year. These winter
renters take advantage of the great year-round weather,
restaurants, golf, shopping, and entertainment while
relaxing in a fully-furnished condominium that is
convenient to everything the area has to offer.
The Resorts of Pelican Beach offers an activity program

Vision Air Announces New Service to Destin with Flights to Buffalo

with Vision Air announced new seasonal service between Destin (VPS) and
Niagara Falls, NY International Airport (IAG) and Miami International
Airport (MIA) beginning December 17, 2010.

HOG Rally
to return to Destin in 2011

The HOGs are
returning to the Emerald Coast in 2011.
The Emerald
Coast Convention and Visitors Bureau has won its bid to host the Florida
State Harley-Davidson Owners Group rally for a second year.
“I’m not
surprised at all,” said Shane Moody, president and CEO of the Destin Area
Chamber of Commerce. “They want to be here … for the same reasons we all
love living here.”
The HOG rally
is scheduled for Oct. 19-23, 2011.
This year’s
event, which was based in Destin where the Emerald Grande was the host
hotel, drew more than 2,000 Harley-Davidson enthusiasts.
“It’s a
positive sign,” Moody said of the rally’s return. “Destin is such a great
resort town that when people come here, they want to come back.”

Vision Airlines is coming to Destin!

Word leaked out
prematurely last week, but now the news is official.
Vision Airlines
will fly one of its B-737 airliners to Northwest Florida Regional
Airport Wednesday morning to announce that they will soon offer
service out of Okaloosa County’s airport. The program is scheduled
for 11 a.m. Wednesday and the public is invited to attend.
“I hope the
community will come out for this exciting event and give Vision
Airlines a strong initial welcome to our area,” said Greg Donovan,
Okaloosa County’s airports director.
During the
event, Vision Airlines personnel will be on hand to announce when
they will start service out of Northwest Florida Regional Airport,
what their destinations will be and what their projected costs will
be, Donovan said.
The flights
are expected to start before the Christmas holiday.
Vision
Airlines was started in 1994 as primarily a charter service for
hotels, casinos, professional teams and the government. The company
is expanding into scheduled flights. It is based out of Suwanee,
Ga., and now operates a fleet of Boeing 767s and 737s and Dornier
328 and 228 aircraft.
Vision
Airlines’ impending arrival at Northwest Florida Regional Airport
was announced at a Greater Fort Walton Beach Chamber of Commerce
breakfast by the Okaloosa County Tourist Development Council last
week before Vision Airlines and Donovan were ready to comment on the
new venture. A map handed out at the breakfast listed Niagara Falls,
Knoxville, Huntsville and other cities as potential destinations.
Vision
recently announced service from Louisville to Atlanta.
